What is The Developmental
Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS)?
The Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS) was created by therapist Shirley Jean Schmidt. Driven by empathy and determination, Schmidt designed DNMS to support individuals struggling with attachment-related challenges. Drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Ego State Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Attachment Theory, Schmidt crafted DNMS to address the core developmental needs of those who have experienced early relational trauma.
